This is a fun activity to start either a law or Civics class that has been classroom tested. Students can select to share, add a sticky note, or upvote items depending on your preference to guide the activity.. They can consider what they have done based on a list to start the questioning of what should be a rule. The teacher may need to explain a few items or can help students understand controversies. This often leads to discussions around who should make rules. This helps students to recognize the role that politics or legislation plays in their lives and often gets them to buy into the course. It sets the tone that this will be a fun class.
