Don’t have time for a full mock trial? I found it hard to cover all the content in Grade 12, but I still wanted to have some fun. I created this half-mock trial summative for students so that they could demonstrate their learning in a fun and creative way. This is also great if you haven’t covered all of the trial procedures so that they can focus on the application of the law with cases that interest them. I have listed some good cases for ideas, but the option to choose either side means that there is less collusion and plagiarism. This assignment also allows the students to submit their work and allows you to track their progress. It is a condensed version and great for the final weeks to be able to pack it all in and finish. It is also an easy mark due to the creative options, and hopefully will make the end of the year easier for you.
Closing argument, case law, application of the law, forensics, trial procedures, investigative techniques, rights, legal terminology, rule of law
+plus creative options for a little fun at the end of the semester 🙂
Additional Case summaries are also available on TPT that include Charter violations, serial killers, and wrongfully convicted.
I also have a crime scene summative if you want to cover different elements depending on your course.
