This fun activity helps students recognize how people deal with their emotions. It is aimed at teens rather than younger students and can be great for personal growth or classroom management.
There are a lot of choices for this activity as the students can analyze their families or a television show. You can change this up every year and have some great class discussions.
The ability to label or understand that there are lots of people who deal with their emotions in a similar way can really help with social learning. It also can help students consider alternative methods and solutions.
I like the students to demonstrate their learning using a one page hands on demonstration. They can draw, cut out, or use computer graphics to help demonstrate the five types. This is an easy completion based activity for assessment and can also be used to demonstrate computer skills or professional layout for other courses.
There is student choice and an activity that you can use while teaching the content. There is even an answer key to help if the students want to check their work.
I can’t take credit for the old graphic but the development of the activity from a reference and self -reflection to the demonstration using FRIENDS as an example has had a lot of success in the classroom and students have indicated their appreciation over the years.
